Our Student Success Stories - Eric Gil

Eric

Eric Gil is a graduate of Poway High School and is a Texas A&M University Alumni. Eric is currently a 1st Lieutenant in the United States Marine Corps. Today, Eric is in Flight School training to become an MV-22 Osprey pilot (yeah, super cool!).

Eric loves that he gets to learn how to fly! He says, "I've had some amazing opportunities in the Marine Corps, and have lived in Virginia, Florida, and Texas already. Other than getting some of the best flight training, I get to work alongside some of the best young men and women who are training with me. It's definitely humbling and amazing to meet people who are from all over the country and have different backgrounds and are here in flight training for the Navy and Marine Corps."

During his time at Texas A & M University in College Station, Texas, Eric was involved in Corps of Cadets, Ross Volunteer Company (Honor Guard for Governor of Texas), and Maroon Coats. Eric is thankful for the amount of service opportunities he was given through  the Ross Volunteers, the Corps, and Maroon Coats. Eric mentions, "With Maroon Coats, we were the student ambassadors for the Texas A&M Foundation, so we were always at donor events interacting with those who've given to the University, sharing our experiences and learning about theirs, since almost all were Former Students."

Fun Fact: A photo of Eric from Texas A&M ended up in the United Airlines magazine on the flights. Eric found out through another Poway High grad. That person saw the photo on their flight to London! (small world!)

Eric, you're one of a kind. Thank you for all of your service. We appreciate you, and can't wait to see what you do next!
